Abstract

Butterflies are widespread throughout the University of Papua (UNIPA) area and one of them is in the Faculty of Agriculture area. Because no previous research had conducted butterfly research at the Faculty of Agriculture, it was necessary to conduct butterfly research at various points in the Faculty of Agriculture area. This research aims to analyze the diversity of butterfly species at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Papua. The research was carried out using direct observation methods in the field in all open areas and parks around the Faculty of Agriculture. Butterflies are caught using insect nets. The results of 7 weeks of research were that there were 25 species of butterfly species at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Papua University. The most common butterflies are from the Nymphalidae family (15 species) and the fewest are from the Lycaenidae family (1 species). The butterflies most commonly found in the Faculty of Agriculture are Mycalesis terminus (41 individuals) and Tirumala hamata (27 individuals).
